A cancer patient from Kingsbury has raised ?16,000 for the hospital where he received "exceptional" care .
Kevin McGowan, 60, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma last January and was treated in Byrd ward at Northwick Park Hospital.
He was so grateful to the team who looked after him that he presented a cheque for ?16,000 to consultant haematologist Charalampia Kyriakou to thank her and the medical and nursing team.
Mr McGowan said: ?I was very unwell when I first meet Dr Kyriakou a year ago.
?I had to spend several days on Byrd ward and the care and attention I received from her and her team was exceptional.?
The money, which will go towards lymphoma research, was raised by the 60-year-old, his family and friends, who hosted a dance and auction at the Mazenod Social Club in Kilburn.
