When people see older women dating younger men in the past, more often than not their reaction would not be positive. Presently, society has become more accepting of the idea. Some studies have shown that roughly a third of women in their 40s to 60s like the idea of dating young men. It has been done for many years by famous celebrities like Cher and Madonna, which has also influenced people?s mindset towards being more accepting of this concept.
Each case can be different and no definitive reason why this phenomenon, which began two decades ago, is actually happening. For some, they think the huge age gap does not matter at all as long as both the man and woman are attracted to each other. According to others, older women are extremely attracted to the stamina of younger men, making them decide to get into a relationship that was referred to before as taboo.
These days, women are much more forthright and demanding when it comes to dealing with their relationship partners. Perhaps it has been caused by changes in society where more women now prefer to focus on their careers. This more independent mindset has prompted a lot of older women to get into relationships that are less conventional such as dating men much younger than them.
Based on popular opinion, it is the older woman who is said to be the aggressor. This has been disputed by most couples saying based on their experience, it is the men who always make the first move. Other statistics have supported the claim that men are always the aggressive party, and this was even evident in a research conducted involving 200 couples.
Older women, in general, find it easy to search for a young partner for as long as he meets the criteria of what she is looking for. Those looking for a casual relationship would not be bothered by their male partner?s occasional immaturity. On the other hand, those searching for a long term relationship need their partners to demonstrate a certain degree of maturity in order to keep up with the woman?s lifestyle. Women do not like being the mother between the two, so she would rather break up the relationship early on if she thinks the male is not up to it.
Women should not make the mistake of bearing the decision making and financial responsibility all to themselves. As most relationships, communication is still vital, and before they get into the next stage must be able to establish it between themselves.
