2011 Tax Forms Federal | Tax Amnesty

For U.S. divorce attorneys: we've updated Divorce Financials to account for 2011 tax changes.

Don't worry: you still get child support-alimony tax tradeoff analyses, pension worksheets, and other customizable worksheets, forms, and guidelines.

You're still entitled to download mEasySoft, our companion mobile app for your Smartphones and tablet computers. For free.

Our latest change? We're unveiling Divorce Financials 3.0: with 2011 tax changes.

What this means:

You get a new combined (federal and state) 2011 tax table to reference through your divorce settlement negotiations.

While selecting the number of dependents, our family law software will prompt you to enter child tax credits (if any). It'll then provide the selected tax year's available credit amounts.

As part of Alimony-Child Support Tradeoff Analysis, you can now keep the child support amount fixed, and hypothesize different alimony values. This is an excellent tool for cases in which the parties have already agreed on child support, and are looking to discover alimony or spousal maintenance values, i.e. high income cases.

New York attorneys : If you select your client's tax filing state as NYC , our family law software will combine NY state and city resident tax rates for state taxes. This eliminates the need to account separately for city and state tax in New York.

New Jersey attorneys : The child support calculation engine has been updated to account for:

Equal parenting adjustments (per Deffler v. Deffler)

Healthcare and child care expenses

The Self-Support Reserve/Poverty reserve test, and guideline amounts

Easy? You bet.

Easy Soft's Divorce Financials software is used throughout the country by law firms, state agencies (such as legal services), law schools and paralegal programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What form do I need to file my 2011 taxes?
Due to moving and company transfer complications, I didn't file my 2011 taxes last year. I'd like to file them online using Turbotax but Turbotax doesn't offer that option. Is there any safe website to use, and if not, what form do I need to use in order to file?

    • ANSWER:
There are several on-line services that will prepare prior year returns, however none that I can find are set up to e-file prior year returns. You must print the completed return and mail it in.

FreeTaxUSA offers a free service for simple federal returns. They charge .95 & up for state returns. They are located here: http://www.freetaxusa.com/prior_year.jsp

PastYearTax charges .95 and up for federal returns. Their state fees are not listed on their home page. They are here: http://www.pastyeartax.com/

This is not a recommendation, just what I found in a couple of minutes on Google. There are others that might be a better fit for you.

  2. QUESTION:
What tax form number is a student federal tax transcript?
I'm filling out the 4506-T request for transcript of tax return so I can get financial aid when I start school in January and it says to enter the tax form number but I don't know what it is. The e-mail I got from the school says I need a copy of my Student 2011 Federal Tax Transcript.

    • ANSWER:
Automated IRS System Helps College-Bound Students with Financial Aid Application Process
College-bound students and their parents sometimes face last minute requests to complete or provide additional information for financial aid applications.
The Internal Revenue wants to help by minimizing time spent on the completion of the Department of Education s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, applicants can automatically transfer required tax data from their federal tax returns directly to their FAFSA form.
This IRS tool is a free, easy and secure way to access and transfer tax return information onto the FAFSA form. Using the tool saves time, improves accuracy and may reduce the likelihood of the school s financial aid office requesting that you verify the information.
Here are some tips on using the IRS DRT:
Eligibility Criteria To use the IRS DRT to complete their 2012 -2013 FAFSA form, taxpayers must:
o have filed a federal 2011 tax return,
o possess a valid Social Security Number,
o have a Federal Student Aid PIN (individuals who don t have a PIN will be given the option to apply for one through the FAFSA application process), and
o have not changed marital status since Dec. 31, 2011.
Exceptions If any of the following conditions apply to the student or parents, the IRS Data Retrieval Tool cannot be used for the 2012 FAFSA application:
o an amended tax return was filed for 2011,
o no federal tax return was filed for 2011,
o the federal tax filing status on the 2011 return is married filing separately or
o a Puerto Rican or other foreign tax return has been filed.
Applicants who cannot use the IRS DRT to meet college requests for verification, may need to obtain an official transcript from the IRS. Transcripts are not available until the IRS has processed the related tax return. To order tax return or tax account transcripts, visit IRS.gov and select "Order a Transcript" or call the toll-free Transcript line at 1-800-908-9946.
In addition, the IRS offers money-saving information for college students and their parents about tax credits and deductions for qualifying tuition, materials and fees.
Use the search box at the www.irs.gov website for the below referenced items for this purpose.

  3. QUESTION:
What is the best way for getting back copy of tax documents?
The thing is that i received my 2011 federal and state refund on my bank account and everything is ok with that. The problem is that recently my hard disc died and i have lost all of my documents including my federal & NY state tax forms. I need copies of that forms for applying to a new job.
So, what is the best way to retrieve it and what is the correct address i should write to? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
if you have to have actual copies, you pay to IRS for a copy, you can probably find an application for one at www.irs.gov under 'forms'
check with your state web site for income tax how you can apply for a state return which will also cost

  4. QUESTION:
Can I use my parents 2011 tax return info to apply to fafsa (financial aid) for 2013?
My mom hasnt gotten her 2012 tax return yet, and I have to apply for fafsa before February 12, and I don't wanna miss the deadline, is it okay if I just use her 2011 tax return instead?

I wanna start college this year.

    • ANSWER:
The FAFSA must be completed using the 2012 tax return.

Is that the deadline for your school, or what? It's too soon, I know that isn't the federal deadline and highly doubt the state deadline.

If you are absolutely certain that it is correct, you can use the 2011 tax forms or her W-2, but you will have to make an amendment later.

  5. QUESTION:
How do I request my 2011 Federal Tax Transcript from the IRS?
I'm trying to apply to college for Spring. I filled out my fafsa and the school sent me a letter with a list of things I still need. On the list it says exactly: Student's 2011 Federal Tax Transcript from IRS

And at the bottom of the paper there is a note that says to fill out form 4506-T on the IRS website. If I fill that paper out will that get me my federal tax transcript? And on the 4506-T form there is a question that asks what form I'm requesting, what do I put for that?
