WASHINGTON (AP) ? A House chairman has issued subpoenas for State Department documents related to the widely debunked talking points about the cause of the deadly attack on U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, last year.
Republican Rep. Darrell Issa (EYE'-suh), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is seeking material from 10 current and former State Department officials. He sent a letter on Tuesday to Secretary of State John Kerry pressing for the documents by June 7.
Issa said the 100 pages of emails and other information released by the White House earlier this month did not answer questions about who at the State Department, other than former spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, expressed reservations about the talking points.
Four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed in the attack.
