My client is looking for a operational risk and compliance manager to implement and manage an effective risk and compliance framework for the bank. They are looking for an individual that has had proven success in building operational risk and compliance frameworks within the financial services environment through building and maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Ideal candidate
Big 4 Chartered background
Experience within operational risk for a financial services institution
5 years of risk and/or compliance management.
Retail banking experience in a risk and or compliance management related role.
Understanding of legal & compliance frameworks impacting the provisions of banking services and products
Key duties/responsibilities
Proactively support business on risk management issues
Embed, implement and enhancement of the Operational Risk & Compliance framework with the business to support efficient and effective risk outcomes within the business and be responsible for:
Execution of Operational Risk Management activities aligned to policies, frameworks and regulatory requirements
As required, delivery of awareness activities (workshops, presentations, communications) to increase understanding of operational risk in the business
Execution of tools and assurance methodologies to support business stakeholders to effectively manage operational risk
Assess and report control effectiveness, risk trends and issues to Lead Risk Advisors and local Leadership Teams
Identify and monitor high-risk areas and implement risk management strategies.
Work with other business lines to mitigate/streamline business risks issues.
Provide compliance support for the business line including:
Represent at risk & compliance committees, discussion groups
Actively participate in projects impacting the business line
Monitors effectiveness of business risk practices, highlights gaps / out of appetite risks and escalates as required
Provides an independent assessment of the risks inherent in material changes e.g. key business decisions, projects, process changes, implementation of new infrastructure, product changes or launches
Assists business leadership to drive a risk culture in which risk awareness and thinking is built into day-to-day business decisions
