Samsung Unveils Cheaper Galaxy Camera, Price and Launch Date Unknown

Samsung?s Galaxy Camera isn?t for the faint of heart, especially at $500 a pop-up. ?Also, it?s worth noting that it?s a behemoth compared to other point and shoot cameras, though it may not look it in pictures. ?While Samsung has yet to address the Galaxy Camera?s rather encumbering size, it has reconsidered the price tag.

Unfortunately, I don?t how much less the new Galaxy Camera (EK-GC110) will cost, but Sammy has told us it will be cheaper. ?Though with that benefit comes a caveat: the removal of the 3G/4G chip that connected to the shooter any where a signal existed. ?That means that Galaxy Camera owners (of the second iteration) will have to depend on the snapper?s built-in dual band WiFi connectivity. ?Not exactly the most convenient of compromises if you?re standing at the top of a mountain or on the beach capturing the perfect sunset. But hey, that?s what MiFis and tethering data plans are for, right?

Other than that, the specs of the Galaxy Camera have remained the same: Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean),??4.8? HD Super Clear Touch Display, built-in video and photo editing software, a 16.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, 21x optical zoom, and a 1.4Ghz quard-core processor.
