Sony Music Entertainment (SME) has blocked my Community video in ?some?countries?because they own the rights to Edvard Grieg?s ?In the Hall of the Mountain King?, evidently. I disputed the claim once and am debating doing it again now that they?ve re-blocked the video; but I?m pretty sure that will just result in a copyright strike on my account.?

Evidently?stating my vid (both in the dispute and on the video?s page?description)?is in fair use under Section 107 of the US Copyright Act of 1976 because it is noncommercial and transformative in nature; uses no more of the original than necessary; and has no negative effect whatsoever on the market for the original work isn?t enough.?

The reason SME has the rights to the song is because Sony owns The Social Network,?which used the song in the film. What is hilarious is they own?Trent Reznor?s version of the song - it is?incredibly?doubtful they own the 1970 Berlin Philharmonic version I used.?

Extra-double-special-hilarious is the fact Sony owns Community and couldn?t give a damn I?ve ripped my DVDs and rearranged their copyrighted images.?

Talk about weird.?
