Robert Griffin III believes that being ready for the first day of training cap on July 25 in Richmond is a very realistic goal.
?Without a doubt,? he said.
He has been throwing with some teammates during OTAs but he has not participated in team drills. It has been just short of five months since he had his right knee surgically reconstructed by Dr. James Andrews. That date for the opening of training camp is six weeks from today.
?It?s just how I feel and how it?s progressed,? he said when asked why he thought he would be ready. "Over the last three weeks, I've had a lot of progress and I feel a lot better.?
?I feel really good about that,? he said.
?That?s why is say ?without a doubt.??
Mike Shanahan was more cautious in his assessment, saying that the timetable for Griffin?s return will be up to the doctors. He said the doctors estimated a recovery time of seven to nine months and that seven months will not have elapsed since the surgery until August 9, about two weeks into training camp and the day after the Redskins? preseason opener.?
